May 20 – 24, 2019

This week we will conclude the second of two weeks for SBAC testing.  The tests will be challenging and some families and students find it to be a stressful time of the year.  Please help encourage your student to try their very best on the test, but not to stress over how they do.  Remind them that all we ask is that they put in good effort and persistence during the test. I’m encouraging the kids to think of the tests as their opportunity to show off all the wonderful things they have learned during the year!

During these weeks of testing, there will be no math homework or Reader’s Notebook packet.  Students will still need to read each night, but I will not be collected a Reading Log — I ask that you please maintain at least 20 minutes of reading each night in order to keep up with AR goals.  I encourage all families and students to check Aeries (Parent Portal) for any missing work and use these weeks to get all missing assignments complete and turned in. Please remind you student to be working towards earning the Fiesta Village trip! All trimester 3 work (including AR goals) is due May 31, 2019.

To help your student during the test, please…

  • Make sure he/she a good breakfast and pack them an extra-large snack.  (Most testing will take place between recess and lunch, so it is important they have enough fuel to keep them focused!)
  • Make sure he/she are here every day on time.  Any tests they miss they will have to make up!
  • Make sure he/she get plenty of sleep.
  • Make sure he/she get plenty of exercise and outside time after school.
  • Remind him/her to try their best and show persistence when it is challenging.  All I want is for each student to do their personal best!

If you are interested in donating a snack to the class for testing, please go to: the Sign Up page to sign up.  I have also sent the link via Remind and posted it to my website.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
